You must stop on a Yellow light unless it’s too dangerous to stop.

You should know what’s behind you well before reaching a set of traffic lights so you can make an informed decision whether it would be safe to stop suddenly or not.

If you have have a truck close behind you, you wouldn’t want to be braking heavy as the truck can’t stop as quick as a car.

You need to have that knowledge prior to reaching the intersection.
